Podcast Interview with Chris Kresser
Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 12:32PM My podcast interview with Chris Kresser of Healthy Skeptic is now up here.
I first became aware of Chris' work when I encountered his series on thyroid, which is basically the series I would have done had I done it...
Chris and I see the world through very similar lenses, and I highly recommend his blog and his podcast series.
He also has a great interview with Stephan Guyenet you should check out.
Chris and I had a great time doing this podcast, which was ably moderated by Danny Roddy, and we are even thinking of collaborating on some other projects in the future.
Stay tuned!
In other news, my first 2 posts on PT have garnered about 60,000 views between them in 12 days, so that if you were to add these hits to the "home blog" here, PT has almost doubled my reach in terms of page views. We'll see how that holds up going forward.
You will notice the new Bullionvault link on the right column.
I use BV personally for some of my precious metals holdings. I consider them the most physically and politically secure way to own actual physical gold and silver for investment and insurance purposes. The overhead and trading costs are the lowest you can get for physical metal. If you open and fund an account there, a small fraction of the transaction and storage fees you pay will go to the support this blog. Another cost-free way you can show your support. And again, I use them myself. If I didn't I would not endorse them.
Fresh posts are in the works.

Hello Dr Harris.
Loved the podcast. Thanks so much to Chris and you for taking my question that I posted, which came up in the interview. You gave me the answer I expected. Here was the original question :-)
1) What are your views on the hormetic benefits of consumption of NADs - fructose, wheat, and vegetable oils? Related to this, I see a lot of energy in the blogosphere regarding hormesis lately. Is this just scientifically validating the conventional wisdom of "everything in moderation". Cocaine in moderation too? Seems like a slippery slope given the point in the J curve where hormesis stops and badness starts is so ill defined, that even in the case of polyphenols, avoidance is still the better choice. This comment excludes my mandatory red wine at dinner mind you!
2) Any concerns about oxidized PUFAs in the diet, say from eating lots of scrambled eggs for example? Or as long as total PUFA intake is below 4%, no worries?
Thanks,
Aravind
Hi Kurt,
Enjoyed your chat on Chris Kresser's podcast. Just went back and reviewed your "Get Started" link where you outline the 12 steps of the Panu Diet. One thing that some readers may not realize is that nuts are often high in the Omega 6 fatty acids and consuming them can throw off your n3:n6 ratio even if you are doing everything else to optimize your ratio. I adopted a PANU diet about 5 months ago and only recently realized that all the nuts I've been snacking on every day may be negating my efforts to reach the right PUFA balance. Looking forward to your next posts...
If you've already answered this, accept my apologies. Do you still get the page view credit if I subscribe directly to the PT blog or does it only credit you when coming from your site? Thanks. Brian
KGH:
Page views on PT count the same no matter where they feed from.
If you subscribe to PT, but not PaNU, you will get links to PT but not the stuff that is only here.
I don't intend to publish more than a fraction of what is at this blog on PT. You should subscribe to whatever you want to read. I don't blog just to earn 0.5 cents per click. I'd starve : )
Whoot for BV! :-)
Kurt,
Great podcast. It was nice to get a voice to match your writing.
BullionVault ? I use GoldMoney. Maybe I will have to open an account with BullionVault just to support your blog now.
thanks for all the wisdom
Great podcast, I'm an anti-leaky gut advocate. Wrote successful posts about it. Did not focus too much on stress in relation to the permeability of the gut. After this podcast I will. Thnx Hans Keer.
